12 Days of DIY Christmas: Day Eleven - Window Display

I'll be honest. I'm not loving this one. I keep looking at it trying to figure out what I need to change or do different. I love the idea of it, but I'm unsure of how I like how I did it. If you have an idea to make me love it...please...let me know!!

It was another one of those "free" crafts, using what I had on hand.

I spray painted a branch silver and wrapped some silver string around it to attach it to the nail I put in the window frame.

Then I got some ribbon and tied it around the branches at different lengths....

and attached baubles to the string. I'm thinking maybe it would have looked better if I gave the image of them floating by using fishing line or something?? Or maybe I needed to add more baubles? Help me out here please!!

Here's my finished product.

What do you think? Do you like it? Should I change it? Is it the branch I don't like? Help a sister out!!

Hmm.. I like it Lisa... I don't mind the branch.. but for me personally I would have left the branch natural and used my bronze and ivory and gold baubles.I am thinking it might be the branch your not happy with... I do think that just hanging them from fishing line from the frame of the window ( no branch) would be cute.. or even the ribbon from the window. Either way.. I love the idea..and think its great!!

I really like the general idea of this!
I think fishing line would make the world of a difference, I think the string adds a lot of visual weight to it.

Hi, I'm Romina. I just found your blog.
It's a nice way to dress your window.
Maybe you should try a branch that is not so straight, with little branches on it... anyways I'm loving the baubles, what about a white ribbon to tied them to the branch?
This one is too big but it could give you an idea:

Thanks for all the feedback! Romina...I think you're onto something with a different branch and Erikah and Jess...you're right...fishing line would be better. If I fix it this year, I'll post an update, but I have a feeling I'll leave it and do your ideas next year.

Thanks again for the tips!!

I like the idea but if it were me I would take the snow a sort of work it up on the stick and let it drape over it a little and I would use the fishing line to hang them. Also if you want to have a more rustic look I would leave the branch natural color and put some pine on the stick and use red, green ornaments and I would use some bird houses and bird nest to sit on top of the stick. Good Luck!

It's beautiful, but I like the idea of using a branch that has more character, maybe a manzanita branch. And if it has little branches coming off of the main branch that's all the more spots to hang more ornaments. Additionally, you could mix up the baubles by including some prisms, or strings of epsom salts crystals. Such a beautiful idea and you could even continue the theme around the room by taking additional manzanita branches, painted silver, standing in a pot or a crystal candle stick, with the same baubles hanging off of it.
